What is continuous glucose monitoring?

This technology has emerged out of the medical diagnostics field for diabetes treatment. Essentially it consists of a wearable device that you apply on the upper outer arm, which has a small, flexible and painless needle that inserts into the skin. This device records the glucose levels in your interstitial tissues.

Why is continuous blood glucose monitoring important?

Blood glucose is an important measurement for your health. Everyone responds differently to food. Basal blood glucose levels slowly rise as you age and having higher levels than average for your age is associated with looking older. It’s more than skin deep though: high blood glucose levels are associated with higher chances of disease and all cause mortality. Knowing how you react to foods empowers you to keep your blood glucose levels in a healthy range.

What add ons do you offer?

After choosing your plan, you have the option to choose guidance and extras. A personal start is included in most plans. You have the option to get in touch with our certified nutritionist, which enables you to together optimize your nutrition plan. Are you not interested in personal guidance at the moment? Your questions will always be answered via our in-app chat.

How do I stop my membership?

If you (temporarily) no longer wish to use Clear, you can contact us at, to pause or cancel your membership. Do you have a Flex membership, you must stop or pause your membership at least 5 working days before your next extension takes place.

How to attach the sensor to my arm?

Applying the sensor is very easy. You don’t need any medical knowledge and placement is painless. Watch this video for the instructions.

Why am I receiving a sensor that only lasts 2 weeks?

The sensor that we currently use at Clear lasts for 2 weeks. This is because there is a small battery in the sensor. The range of sensors is still growing and at the moment we have not yet found a good sensor that lasts longer than 2 weeks. After 2 weeks you can remove the sensor and throw it away. You can easily measure further with a new sensor.

When will I see my Food Scores and glucose data?

Your glucose data and Food Scores in de Clear app are updated at least every 24 hours, but usually faster. To see you glucose data continuously open the FreeStyle Libre app. Currently there is no direct technical integration possible between the FreeStyle Libre 2 and the Clear app. We are continuously working to accelerate this integration and expect this to be possible in the future, so that you can also continuously monitor your glucose data in the Clear app.

How much time will the program take?

We know you have a busy life, and we design around it. You will receive the sensor per post. When you attach the sensor to your arm, you have started! This you can do when and wherever you want. If you need more support, it is possible to schedule a kick-off with us. Following Clear is easily done via our app. The continuous glucose monitoring is done automatically, you don’t have to do anything other than put it on your arm at the beginning and let it sync with your phone. All we ask of you is to log your food in our app, so that we can tell you which food is and which is not for you.

Is it worth it?

For a fraction of the price of private dietitians and lifestyle coaches, you get a truly personalized food recommendation plan that’s evidence based and designed to keep you energized, manage weight and have long term health. You decide if that’s worth it.

Am I eligible for the program?

To be eligible for Clear, you must: (1) be curious about your health (2) not have current serious health conditions (3) be over the age of 18 (4) have a smartphone with an NFC reader (the most modern smartphones have those). We’ll take care of the rest.

Is Clear covered by my health insurance?

Unfortunately, Clear is not yet reimbursed by the (supplementary) health insurance. If there are any developments in this area, it will be mentioned.
